When finalised, this document will help council planners decide which developments should be allowed and where they should go. It will identify where new housing, jobs, new schools, health facilities and new parks should be located, as well as look at climate change, gypsy and traveller needs, transport, retail, conservation and affordable housing. Responses can be made from 8th June 2009 until 5pm on Monday 20th July by the following means: Annual Report 2008/09Although there is no statutory duty to prepare an Annual Report, the Parish Council is keen to summarise its activities and achievements over the past year, and to inform our residents and the wider community of its plans for future years. Major Developments - updateHarborough District Council's Planning Committee will consider the 2 major planning applications at Frolesworth Road and Coventry Road Broughton Astley, at its meeting on Tuesday 7th July: For full details please go to the bottom of the left hand side of the home page or use this Planning Applications link. Comments can made submitted to Harborough District Council by via the link attached to each individual application. ![]() Changes to Harborough District Council services in Broughton Astley! The district council has announced some changes to the way it runs its services to reflect use and demand. From 1st June 2009 the council will no longer be holding a surgery at its Broughton Astley, Great Glen, Fleckney and Thurnby and Bushby service points. Also from 1st June Harborough District Council’s Lutterworth Service Shop will open every Wednesday afternoon (1pm-4.45pm), Thursday and Friday (8.45am-4.45pm), instead of the current five-days-a-week service. The Market Harborough council offices will no longer open on Saturday mornings, although the Monday to Friday openings will remain as normal. (Harborough Library will be open on Saturdays as normal) If residents are not able to get to the Market Harborough council offices or Lutterworth Service Shop, they will be able to arrange appointments to meet a council customer services representative by calling 01858 828282 or emailing customer.services@harborough.gov.uk They will also be able to access more information at the council’s new, easier-to-use website www.harborough.gov.uk which is due to go live at the end of May. Residents who use the service shops to pay their council tax can arrange to pay it by direct debit by calling the council on 01858 828282 or bills can be paid online at www.harborough.gov.uk Police Neighbourhood Consultation EventsFollowing the series of Neighbourhood consultation surgeries held around the village during August 2008, the Police are now providing a regular opportunity to speak face to face with a local Police Officer. The surgeries will be held in the Village Hall foyer on the first Monday of every month from 7pm until 9pm. It is anticipated that Melanie Wilkinson the Area Enforcement Officer from Harborough Distrct Council will also attend the evening to discuss environmental issues. The next surgery will take place on Monday 6 July 2009. Please clean up after your dog
Following a number of complaints about dog fouling on the play areas around Pickering Road and Warwick Road, the Harborough District Council Dog Warden and Environmental Enforcement Officer will be targeting these areas over the next few weeks. If the Officers witness irresponsible dog owners allowing their dogs to foul in any public space, they will be given a £50 'on the spot' fine. A reminder to dog owners that in order to encourage responsible dog ownership the Parish Council does keep a supply of dog poo bags in the Parish Office which are available free of charge to Broughton Astley residents. 4 YOUTH
