Broughton Astleys NatureSpot is a website designed to encourage you to record your sightings and photographs of wildlife seen in the parish of Broughton Astley. That includes any bat bird, bug, plant, tree, animal, fish, mammal, in fact all living wildlife.

We shall be launching the website officially on the 9TH to the 15th of July 2011 with displays in BA Library and the Parish council foyer. The site is already up and running and you can access the Broughton Astley Naturespot (BAN) website at http://www.naturespot.org.uk/parish/broughton-astley.

You will need to log into the site and create your own password, and then you are ready to record whatever it is you have seen. If you have a photograph of what you have seen that too can be uploaded onto the website.

For anyone who does not have or use a computer, a paper recording system is also being designed and can be used to record sightings and then taken to the B.A. library where it can be input via a computer to the website, either by yourself, or with assistance from a librarian, free of charge.

Why Record Wildlife?
Nearly everyone we have spoken with in BA about this project has an interest in wildlife of one sort or the other and our aim is to get you involved and record what wildlife interests you.
Knowledge of what lives in our gardens, and open spaces is often very scant so you can really help by recording what lives in your locality. Wildlife records are vitally important in helping us understand the distribution and abundance of different species, and this data is essential for both protecting sites through planning and for conservation management.. Knowledge of what lives in our gardens, parks and open spaces is often very scant so you can really help by recording what you see. All NatureSpot records are shared with the County Records office and conservation bodies.
