If you want to know what been going on in Broughton Astley over the last year, and what is likely to happen during the coming year, please read the Chairman Annual Report.
Broadband speeds across the County can be very different, and we are trying to do something to help. Working together with local residents, businesses and other local authorities we are trying to assess current speeds, uses and demand for super-fast broadband.
You can help by answering some questions which will enable us to gauge where the worst speed problems are and where improvements might make the most difference.
Please complete the household or business questionnaire as appropriate. You may consider it appropriate to complete both – especially if you run a home-based business. If you just occasionally work from home please just complete the household questionnaire. More »

There's still time to' Have Your Say' on the 2013 Review of Parliamentary constituency boundaries will introduce substantial changes. It will reduce the number of constituencies in England from 533 to 502 and make sure that each constituency has a similar number of registered electors.
Should the proposed changes go ahead the four Broughton Astley Wards will move from Blaby constituency to be part of Daventry constituency.
The Parish Council considered its response to the proposals at its meeting on 17 November a has sumitted a formal objection to the proposal. More »
In the East Midlands region it has not been possible to allocate whole numbers of constituencies to individual counties, and have grouped some local authority areas into sub-regions. The number of constituencies allocated to each sub-region is determined by the electorate of the combined local authorities.
You can have your say on the proposed changes until 5 December 2011.

A scheme supplying free trees to farmers and rural landowners is available as part of a Leicestershire County Council initiative.
The Free Tree Scheme, which aims to replace trees lost to disorders such as Dutch Elm Disease and Ash Decline, is in its fourth year and has so far seen around 6,000 trees planted in rural parts of the county.
Since the early 1980s, the county has lost over 50% of its single landscape trees from rural areas. This is largely due to the ravages of Dutch Elm Disease and other disorders, such as Ash Decline, in the 1980s. More recently disorders such as Chestnut Bleeding Canker and Acute Oak Decline are adding to this loss. More »
The council can provide trees for farmers and landowners to plant in hedgerows, field boundaries, field corners and parkland areas.
Sites next to, and visible from, main road corridors are preferred but any site on rural land which is visible to the public will be considered. The scheme does not cover private gardens.
The initiative is a partnership arrangement where the County Council supplies the trees and planting materials and the landowner does the planting and subsequent aftercare.
Farmers and rural landowners interested in applying for free trees should contact the Forestry Office at County Hall on 0116 3056920 for an application form and further details. » Less
